Maritza is one of our incredible Registered Veterinary Technician at Liston Animal Hospital. She was born and raised in Ottawa, and knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She went to the University of Ottawa and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After her studies at UOttawa, Maritza went on to pursue a career as a Veterinary Technician at St. Lawrence College and graduated in 2013, at which time she began working at Animal Emergency Ottawa (where she still works on a casual basis). 

Over the years, Maritza has worked in both emergency and general practices. She has worked with many different animals like dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, reptiles, and lab animals. She also has a keen interest in surgery and nutrition. 

In her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, shopping, travelling, hiking, and snuggling with her tuxedo cat, Harry.
