Chippy McNish

On February 17th, 2023, the staff of Liston Animal Hospital said farewell to our beloved clinic cat of fifteen years, Chippy McNish.

Unfortunately, after investigating a suspicious mass in Chippy's mouth, we discovered that he had developed a particularly aggressive form of oral cancer. The mass was already causing him a great deal of pain, which, combined with chronic pancreatitis, was beginning to compromise his quality of life. Together, Dr. Liston, Dr. Blackburn, Dr. Beattie, and Dr. Levesque came to the conclusion that the time had come for us to say goodbye.

Chippy was always been the heart and soul of our clinic ever since we first opened in 2007. Each of us—staff members past and present, new and old—came to consider him a dear friend and coworker, though he was never really enthusiastic about the working part. Clients too always enjoyed being greeted by him, and seeing him getting up to mischievous antics around the clinic. Our neighbours also had their fair share of dealings with Chippy, when he used to escape and head down the block to procure some burgers from Wendy's.

Chippy gave us joy on difficult days, company on slow nights, and snuggles when we needed it, and for that, we will always be thankful. Rest in peace, little man. Until we meet again.
